What is the Lake Tahoe Couples Getaway?
The Lake Tahoe Couples Getaway is a faith-based vacation/marriage retreat allowing you to spend some much needed time with your spouse focusing on each other and God. The event takes place in a breath-taking location where you'll have the opportunity to hear from phenomenal speakers, worship with chart-topping Christian artists, and fellowship with other believers--all while enjoying a 4-Star resort, great excursions, and picturesque landscapes. We are passionate about wanting to see marriages strengthened and believe strongly that an essential part of a strong marriage is a strong relationship centered on Christ. We're often asked, "Is the goal of this trip to help struggling marriages, or is it simply a vacation getaway for all marriages?" We believe that we can accomplish both and are convinced that whether your relationship is "in a good place" or it's struggling, we ALL need to take intentional times for renewal. Our goal is that these 4 days would act as an "interruption" in your marriage and a revival of your love for one another.

How do we make a reservation?

Are we able to book additional nights before or after our stay??
Absolutely, all guests have the option to book up to 3 nights before OR after the Getaway by calling us at 1.800.657.9614, Mon-Fri 9-4 PST. Keep in mind that space is limited and booking these rooms as soon as possible is always recommended.
Are there any suites available?
Absolutely! We have a 3 classifications of suites: The Sugar Pine Junior Suite, One-Bedroom Suite, & Lakeside Cottage. All can be found under "Pricing". If suites are sold out, within 90 days of the trip we'll give each of you a chance to upgrade your room assuming the hotel hasn't booked all the suites.
What is your cancellation policy?
View the cancellation policy for the Lake Tahoe Couples Getaway. Marriage Matters recommends purchasing travel/cancellation insurance.
Are we permitted to bring children?
The Lake Tahoe Couples Getaway is a couples only event. We’ve made it our goal to create an atmosphere that separates you and your spouse from the normalcy of the day-to-day and inspire you to have a renewed focus on your relationship with one another.
Is this a cruise?
It’s not, but we think it’s way better (and cheaper)! The Lake Tahoe Couples Getaway takes place at a top-rated resort and provides you with the opportunity to really experience the destination rather than just quickly sample it. Plus, our high quality accommodations are typically 2x to 3x larger than a cruise state room and our getaways are significantly cheaper than most marriage cruises (with no “Days at Sea”), which gives you more space and time to relax and truly “get away”.
What airport should we fly to?
We recommend booking your airfare with your preferred airline or travel search website. You will need to book your flight into the Reno/Tahoe airport located approximately 40 minutes from the hotel.
When should we schedule our flight to arrive and depart?
Your inbound flight to Reno/Tahoe needs to arrive prior to 6:00 PM (PST) on November 15, 2019, to ensure that you have time to unpack and refresh prior to the Grand Opening of the Lake Tahoe Couples Getaway at 7:30 PM (PST). Your outbound flight to your home airport can depart anytime on the last day of your trip, however check-out at the resort is at 11:00 AM (PST).
How do we get to the hotel?
If you don't have your own transportation to the hotel, we will be providing a shuttle for a minimal fee to/from the Reno/Tahoe International Airport. The shuttle is $20 per person each way to/from the hotel. Approximately 90 days from the event you'll be given an opportunity to sign up for a shuttle ride.
What types of dining options are available?
Tahoe offers a vast array of culinary delights! Meals are on your own time, with the exception of light breakfast items available and coffee provided in your room. The Hyatt Regency has four restaurants on-site, each of them offering a unique experience with varying food types and prices. Additionally, there are roughly 20 restaurants within a close proximity of the resort and dozens more down the road in neighboring Truckee.
Can we bring food with us to save on costs?
Absolutely. Each room has a table with a seating area area AND a refrigerator, making it easy to bring food from home or make a quick trip to the grocery store. The hotel is just one mile from a Safeway, and has shuttles leaving every 15 minutes that drop you off right next to it.
When will we receive the final trip itinerary and more information about the optional activities?
You will receive the final trip itinerary with a link to purchase optional activities via email, approximately 90 days prior to your trip departure. The itinerary will list out all of the scheduled events with times and locations.
What type of clothing should we bring?
Casual attire is recommended for the majority of the trip. For speaking sessions, concerts, and optional activities, we recommend casual resort wear. Lake Tahoe in November tends to consist of daily highs of 55-60 with lows into the 30's. Tahoe usually gets a few inches of snow in November, however, it's pretty minimal and typically hit-or-miss.
How do we get into each event?
You will be provided with an entertainment lanyard when you check-in. The lanyard is required to enter into each event.
Is attendance at any of the speaking sessions or performances required?
Attendance is not required at any of the speaking sessions or performances. It is completely up to you to decide which speaking sessions or performances you want to attend, but they are so amazing we don’t think you’ll want to miss any of them!
